Hi,
Jake is my faithful pen name. He's taken many a hit for some awful things. That's a different story though.

To contrast my writing style, my musical taste is quite mature, believe it or not. While I won't give away my age, I'll confirm that I'm still a lad. My music tastes would never reveal my age though. Long live the long dead musicians of the 50s, 60s, 70s to now!

I like to use a failing sense of humour to get a message across. I hope it helps to inform my loyal readership who are now well over ten strong! YAY!

Destroyer by KISS (1976)

Written by Jake Muttheid (4)

Destroyer was KISS's finest hour. It includes some of their biggest hits, and was released on the cusp of KISS's highest critical acclaim. This album was a let-your-hair-down approach to rock; it is the ultimate party album. No DJ should leave home without it. Destroyer has might and power; it's a force of nature. Possibly this was due to the inclusion of some less than brutal songs, like "Great Expectations" and "Beth." At any rate, this is a great album, but you will want... [read the rest]

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin (1969)

Written by Jake Muttheid (4)

Led Zeppelin II is usually overlooked by music fans because it isn't graced with "Kashmir" or "Stairway To Heaven." But this is one of the heaviest, bluesiest albums your ear will ever hear. This is a perfect fusion of the three biggest things in music at the time: hard rock, blues, and Led Zeppelin. This album is so powerful it's not allowed to be played in the presence of explosive material. (Not really, but you get the point.) Led Zeppelin II is the mark by which all rock and... Highway To Hell by AC/DC (1979)

Written by Jake Muttheid (4)

AC/DC was a band that was consistently great. Most of the time an entire album was good and you could listen from beginning to end and have a good feeling about it. Highway To Hell was the album that was going to make the band famous, and with that in mind, AC/DC took a step away from its usual consistent format and toward recording this career-making album. The album features many brilliant songs, which are still often heard nearly twenty years after they were recorded. These... [read the rest]

Tommy by The Who (1969)

Written by Jake Muttheid (4)

Tommy (1969) is the original rock opera masterpiece penned almost entirely by the great Pete Townshend. Townshend's idea of the "perfect album" was one where a story was woven around a central concept or plot. Tommy is the epic tale of a deaf, dumb and blind boy, and this boy's exploits. Throughout the course of the album, Tommy achieves and succeeds in his life, and he becomes a God-like person; an idol of the time. His fame, fortune and worship climax when he becomes cured of...
