Geezer. Never thought I would call myself that. But it's true. Gray hair (what's left of it). Gray beard. Gray in places you don't want to know.

Long time music fanatic. Rabid concert goer back in the day. No concerts anymore. Hate the crowds. Too loud.

It's a lot like that song by The Pursuit of Happiness, "I'm an adult now." Only worse.

I've played guitar for 34 years but still crudely. Well enough to appreciate what Steve Vai and Eddie Van Halen do, but not good enough to think the Sex Pistols are lame. That's why I love Neil Young's music and Folk-Rock in general. And Punk, and Classic Rock, and...

Oh yeah, and I'm a middle class, white, bald, fat guy from Upstate New York in the USA. Born in the 60's. Came to age (got laid) in the 70's. Worked as a DJ in the 80's. A recording engineer in early the 90's. And a computer geek since 1998.

What are my thoughts about the current state of music? Not my cup of tea except for a few artists and one hit wonders here and there. Although there is probably a whole bunch of stuff I am unaware off. Because,I have a life now! Music doesn't rule my life anymore. Although that might not be a good thing.

Bottom line. I am deluded enough to think my opinion on music might enlighten someone else. I hope I can turn some people on to music that has changed my life.

Open up your ears and your mind.

Desolation Boulevard by Sweet (1974)

The album listed here is the "American" version of Desolation Boulevard. But this is the version I am most familiar with anyway. What a great album this is! There is not one clunker on here. I can't say the same about the European version This American version is a mixture of singles, album cuts, and b-sides. It is really a "best-of" collection of Sweet music from the era. I was not aware of these things in 1982. One thing you can tell from the label is that Chinn/Chapman wrote all the songs... [read the rest]

On The Beach by Neil Young (1974)

Written by zuma06 (2)

I first heard On The Beach in the early 80's (can't quite remember because the early 80's are kind of fuzzy for me) when the 8-track tape purge began. The 8-track tape purge was a time when record stores were dumping all 8-track tapes for the smaller and better sounding cassette tape. So I picked up a lot of stuff then. Purchasing a piece of music for a starving college student was a big purchase that was not done lightly. Luckily I lived in a place that had an FM Progressive Rock station that... [read the rest]
