Led Zeppelin — Physical Graffiti: Track-by-track review

1. "Custard Pie"

The opening track for Physical Graffitistars with Page's chainsaw riff combined with JPJ's calvinet. Enter Robert Plant with an
ooooooh
and then John Bonham, you have a right-from-the-start belter that sets the tone for the first LP.

Plant reaches back in the old blues catalog with Bukka Whites
Shake em on Down and ads a harp for good measure.


Drop down, Plant sings, drop down and Bonzo obliges with a heavy stomp on the bass drum.

2. "The Rover"

Originally recorded as a bluesy acoustic track back in 1970,
"The Rover" took a turn to more harder rocker by the time it was recorded in 1973. The song was intended for Houses of the Holy

4. "Houses Of The Holy"

When fans opened their brand new copies of Physical Graffiti, then were surprised to find a track titled "Hosuses of the Holy", since Zeppelin's last studio album had the same title. It was later explained that it was originally intended for Houses of the Holy, but the mood of the song did not fit.
